There's always that nervous energy going in.
I like to exercise, in particular I like cycling.
When I'm on my bike, it's it's time to sort of think and process.
Do your friends still text you when something on their iPhone doesn't seem to work?
Of course. Of course.
I think everybody who works at Apple has a has a separate little side job,
which is sort of tech support for friends and and family.
You've been at Apple for 25 years now, and now you're the CEO.
How does that make you feel, and were you a little nervous yesterday?
Yeah, well, I mean, it's it's amazing, right? Like you said, I've been here for 25 years.
I absolutely love this place and the people I work with here,
and so it's an incredible privilege and kind of unbelievable opportunity to to take this job.
But I'm always lots of nervous excitement on launch days.
Launch days, this is this is why we do what we do.
It's our chance to show the world what we've been working on, and we think it's really great.
Then we get to see what everybody else thinks,
and so there's always that nervous energy going in, but I think yesterday seems to have gone really well.
People seem very excited about what we showed off, so, yeah, it's a good day.
Talking about the products, you just launched the iPhone Duo, the first foldable iPhone.
Some say why so late, or would you say why now?
You know, we ship things when we're ready to ship them, right?
And you know, yeah, and you know, obviously, people have shipped foldable products before.
None of them we thought were particularly appealing, right?
We had things that we wanted to do. We wanted to design something that we were really passionate and excited about.
And that's true on the hardware, but it's also true on the software and on the design.
It takes time to get it right, and we feel like we got it right.
What would you say, who is the iPhone 18 Pro for, and who is the Duo for?
People will kind of choose and navigate as as they see fit.
I think if you look at at our phones especially, you have you have the iPhone Duo, you have the 18 Pro, and we have iPhone Air.
And they all are kind of optimized for different things,
in a similar way to we have MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, right?
And some people are all about the MacBook Air because they love the portability, some people are all about the performance.
I think 18 Pro, incredible performance, the best cameras in any iPhone, you know.
iPhone Duo, I mean, a whole new experience, the big screen.
I think there's going to be some who go one way, some who go the other, people can use both.
I would love to speak about mindset for a second. I've heard you say "make your mark" to students.
I want to know, what mark do you want to make as the new CEO?
For me, I just love making products, right?
And I feel like I'm at the best place in the world to be able to make products with the best people in the world.
And so, I'm just really excited about where we go from here, you know, across hardware, software, services.
The way we blend all those things together, yeah, I think the mark that we leave will be amazing products
that help people do the things in their life that they want to do.
Is there one thing that you would love to tell younger people out there who maybe just getting started with their career or what they want to do in life?
Focus on learning, right? What's amazing is like, the reality is you never stop learning.
I know I've never stopped learning, and you know, ask questions.
Try and and focus on the work that that really inspires you and that you're passionate about.
So as the new CEO of Apple, I think people out there are curious, what does your downtime look like?
Do you have any hobbies that are unexpected or habits?
I don't know about unexpected. I like I like to exercise, in particular I like cycling.
And so for me, when I'm on my bike, it's it's time to sort of think and process.
You know, it's it's just time alone with my thoughts, and I feel like it's a really productive time to be to be thinking.
Do your friends still text you when something on their iPhone doesn't seem to work?
Of course. Of course. But that never happens, so I I...
Exactly.
I I think I think everybody who works at Apple has a has a separate little side job,
which is sort of tech support for friends and and family.
You know, people have questions and we get to answer questions.
And what actually I'm really excited about is Siri becoming more and like incredibly capable
at helping you figure things out on your devices, so I think that's a good thing.
Yeah. Thank you so much, John, for doing this. Thanks for coming. This was fun.
