Kevin seldom got to spend a full weekend with his grandfather, but this time he packed a small bag, hopped on his bicycle, and rode to Grandpa Lin's house by the sea. Grandpa Lin was the elder of their family—a calm and patient man who had worked as a fisherman for over thirty years. When Kevin arrived, Grandpa was sitting at the kitchen table, drumming his fingers softly on the wood and humming a song.

On Saturday morning, the two of them walked to the supermarket together. Kevin picked up a bar of soap and placed it in the basket. Grandpa Lin chose some fresh pork and a small piece of lamb for supper that evening. Near the checkout counter, Kevin noticed a colorful poster on the wall. It showed a large blue whale jumping out of the ocean and a gray elephant standing beside a river. "Pardon me, Grandpa," Kevin asked politely, "but can we also buy some biscuits?" Grandpa smiled and added a packet to the basket without saying a word.

Back at home, Grandpa opened an old wooden drawer in the living room and took out a small leather purse. He poured a handful of ancient coins onto the table. Some of them were worth only a penny each, but Grandpa's eyes were bright with love as he looked at them. "These are my real treasure," he said softly. "My father gave them to me when I was still very young. I have been absent from many things in life, but I have never let go of these coins."

That evening, while supper was cooking on the stove, Kevin set the table. He placed a spoon beside each bowl and helped Grandpa season the lamb soup with a little salt. Suddenly, a bee flew in through the open window and buzzed around the pot. "Don't be afraid," Grandpa said with a gentle laugh. "It seldom bothers anyone in this house." After supper, Grandpa told a story about a wolf that had once wandered close to the fishing village when he was a young man. Kevin listened to every word with wide eyes.

Later that night, Grandpa asked Kevin about school. Kevin paused, then told Grandpa that he had seen a classmate try to cheat on an important test. The classmate had received a zero because the teacher had caught him right away. Kevin felt uneasy about it. "Cheating may look like an easy shortcut," Grandpa said firmly, "but honest effort is the only thing that is truly yours. A person who cheats only cheats himself in the end."

On Sunday evening, Kevin said bye to Grandpa and climbed back onto his bicycle for the long ride home. He thought about the ancient coins in the leather purse, the whale and elephant poster at the supermarket, and the story of the wolf by the sea. He had seldom left Grandpa's house feeling so full—not just from the warm pork and lamb supper, but from the stories, the lessons, and the love that filled every corner of that small house. He knew he would treasure every moment of this weekend for the rest of his life.
