One morning last week, I saw a new student walk into our classroom. He looked nervous and held his notebook tightly. Our teacher, Ms. Chen, had him stand at the front of the class and introduced him to everyone. She made us sit quietly and listen to him speak.

His name was Brian, and he came from another city. I heard him say that he had studied at a smaller school before. At first, his voice was soft, but then I saw him take a deep breath and speak more clearly. Ms. Chen let him answer a few questions in front of the class, and his answers surprised everyone. I could see his confidence grow little by little.

During the break, Ms. Chen had our group help Brian with the science assignment. She let us explain the steps to him one by one. I heard my friend Kevin make Brian laugh with a funny story about their old classroom. That helped Brian relax. Soon, we saw a big smile appear on his face for the first time that day, and it made the whole group happy.

After school, Kevin let me walk with him to show Brian where the library was. We heard Brian say that he loved reading comic books and playing basketball. That made us excited because we enjoyed those things, too. Kevin also had Brian write down his phone number and said, "Message me if you need anything." Brian's face lit up with joy. Seeing him feel comfortable and at home made all of us feel proud of our class.

By the end of the day, I saw Brian chat and laugh with many of his new classmates. It only took a few kind words and small actions to make him feel he belonged. Brian told us that his first day was much better than he had expected. Hearing that made everyone smile. We all looked forward to seeing Brian become a real part of our class.
