Kevin has a big science project to finish this week. His teacher tells the class to build a model of the solar system. It sounds hard, but Kevin decides to do it himself. He does not ask his parents or his classmates for help. He wants to show everyone that he can finish a big project on his own.
After school, Kevin goes to the library by himself. He reads books about space and looks for useful information online. He takes notes carefully in his notebook. Kevin wants to understand everything himself before he starts to build. He spends two hours in the library and feels ready when he goes home.
At home, Kevin uses cardboard and paint to make the model. He makes a mistake once and has to fix it himself. It is not easy, but he does not give up. His little brother watches him work and says, "You are so good! Can you teach me? I want to make one myself!" Kevin smiles and shows him how to start.
The next day, Kevin brings the finished model to school. His teacher looks at it carefully and smiles. "Did you make this yourself, Kevin?" she asks. "Yes, I made it all by myself!" he says happily. His teacher gives him a high score. His classmates are surprised and ask him to teach them next time.
Kevin feels very proud of himself. He learns that doing things himself takes more time, but it brings more happiness. His teacher says to the class, "Challenge yourself every day, and you will grow." Kevin writes this sentence in his notebook. He wants to challenge himself with something new every week.
