Class 2-5 was very excited about their spring field trip. Their homeroom teacher, Madame Lin, wrote the trip plan on the board with white chalk. She told the students that this was the school's tenth spring field trip. Everyone would take the underground train to Green Valley Nature Park. A few exchange students from other countries also joined them and brought their passports for identification.
The morning was warm and bright. Before leaving, some students packed snacks they had taken from the fridge at home. On the way there, May coughed a few times and felt a little tired. She had just gotten over the flu the week before and had visited the dentist, too. Her seatmate Kevin asked, "Are you okay?" May smiled and said she felt fine. When the class arrived at the park, they saw a green frog sitting quietly near a small pond. A goose was walking slowly along the water's edge.
The park had a small zoo area near the entrance. A hen and her baby chicks were inside an open pen for visitors to enjoy. One student spotted a tiny ant carrying a leaf across the path, and everyone stopped to watch. The class also visited the gift shop, where each student bought a postcard to send to family back in their hometown.
At noon, the class found a grassy area for their picnic. They grilled sausages on a small barbecue and shared fruit and snacks with each other. After eating, some students flew colorful kites in the open field. The kites rose high into the blue sky. "Those kites are theirs," Kevin said, pointing to the group near the big oak tree. A few students also put on inline skates and began to skate along the wide, smooth path nearby.
In the afternoon, a light rain began to fall. Everyone opened their umbrellas and moved under a large roof near the park's visitor center. One student took out an ink pen and wrote notes in a small travel journal. Another student used the keyboard at the visitor center to look up more information about the animals they had seen that day. The rain soon stopped, and the class enjoyed the rest of the afternoon outside.
Just before leaving, a motorcycle pulled up near the park gate. A parent had come to pick up a student who was still not feeling well. The class rode the underground train home, tired but full of smiles. Madame Lin told everyone she was proud of them. The tenth spring field trip was a day full of laughter, new learning, and wonderful memories.
