Our school has a recycling area near the lunchroom. Last year, students often put cans, paper, and food in the wrong bins. Some students were in a hurry, and others did not know the rules. The area became dirty, and the school had to sort the trash again.
One month later, the school placed a smart recycling bin beside the old bins. It has a small screen and a camera. When a student holds an object near it, the screen shows a picture of the right bin. A green light means “recycle here,” while a red light means “try another bin.”
At first, many students were curious about the new machine. Mia tried it with an empty bottle, and the bin showed a blue sign for plastic. Her friend put a banana peel near it, and the screen showed the food waste bin. The students began to read the signs before throwing things away.
After a few weeks, the recycling area was much cleaner. Students made fewer mistakes, and they learned the rules through daily practice. The smart bin cannot do everything for us, but it gives useful help. Good recycling still depends on people making careful choices.
