Every year, our school holds a big health meeting on the school ground. The school committee and all the staff work together to sort out the plan. This year, the school invites a leader from an international health group to give a special talk to all the students.
The leader is a former student of our school. She went to a college in England many years ago. After she graduated, she worked in the health field and became a leader in her department. Her role is to help young people across the nation learn to stay safe and healthy.
The talk is about a particular type of drug that is very dangerous. She shows clear evidence that this drug can kill people and lead to death. Rather than feel scared, she wants students to understand the facts. She says that either you know the danger, or you cannot protect yourself and your family.
The school also lets student groups sell health products on the ground near the stage. The products come from a class project in the science field. A former club leader helps the students set up the tables. The whole school joins in, and everyone plays a role in making the event a success.
By the end of the meeting, many students say they are more likely to make healthy choices every day. They learn to cut bad habits and think about what is good for the whole nation. It is a wonderful day for both the students and the staff.
