Last summer, I started to volunteer at an animal shelter near my school. I had never done anything like this before, so I was a little nervous at first. The shelter takes care of lost and sick animals until someone adopts them. I joined because I wanted to serve my community and learn something real outside the classroom.

My job at the shelter was not boring but it was not easy, either. Every day, I cleaned the cages, gave the animals food and water, and played with them so they would not feel lonely. I also helped the staff write down information about each animal. The work taught me to be patient and stay focused even on hard days.

Working at the shelter has made me more responsible than before. I have learned that true rewards do not always come from money. Being kind to animals is not a small thing but a real way to help the world. The experience that changed me the most was seeing a scared dog slowly learn to trust me after many weeks of care.

I used to think that a 'job' had to pay you money. Now I understand that volunteering is not just about helping others but also about growing yourself. The skills I have gained at the shelter have made me want to work with animals in the future. Someday, I hope to become a vet or an animal trainer so I can keep doing what I love.

我以前以為「工作」一定要領薪水。現在我明白,當志工不只是幫助別人,更是讓自己成長。我在收容所累積的技能,讓我想在未來從事與動物相關的工作。有一天,我希望成為獸醫或動物訓練師,這樣就能繼續做自己熱愛的事。
